Comment: Hi, Im trying to open up some ports for use on battle.net and to hopefully speed up transfer rates on MSN messenger. Im running a 2wire wireless network on a pentium 3 computer, and its networked to my dads pentium 4, and its going 1 kb/s, if anyone know any other way to speed up transfer rates let me know. But in general, where can I go to open and close ports?

Reply: (edit)are you saying that transfering files between the 2 pc's is 1k/sec? Opening Ports What are you using for internet access. Typically you open ports in a router.

Reply: (edit)Yes, the transfer is only going about 1k/s, it jumps at varous times from a max of 10 k/sec to 1k/sec, which is terrible considering its a cable connection. I read on an MSN help section that if you open ports in your router, which I am using a 2Wire Wireless router (Toshiba Brand if that helps) it could greatly increase your transfer speeds... "1-Open as many TCP ports as you can between 6891 and 6900. 2-Configure the TCP ports so that sockets on a port remain open for an extended period of time. "
