Hi everyone,
I'm trying to set up a Windows XP Pro SP2 computer so that it can talk to two separate IP networks at the same time on separate interfaces. Specifically, it needs to be able to:
* Access the Internet as a client via a wireless interface; and
* Act as a server host for a private (192.168.1.xxx) network on a wired interface.
The private network does NOT need access to the Internet, so I don't need to set up NAT or internet connection sharing etc. I basically just need 192.168.1.xxx traffic to go out through the wired interface, and all other traffic to go out through the wireless interface, with no bridging of data between the two networks. The computer I'm setting up is the only host that needs to be on both networks.
However, simply configuring the two network connection properties in Win XP with their own IP addresses, subnet masks, and gateways doesn't seem to do the trick. Can anyone please give me some pointers to what I need to do, and perhaps what additional software I might need?
Thanks.

Hi there,
Without a copy of your IP addresses, subnet masks & default gateway settings for each interface, I'm going to have to guess what is going on here.
What do you have set for your gateway IP address? Remember, this address applies to the whole TCP/IP stack ( even though you can set it on both network interfaces ). So, your default gateway IP address should be set to your router which faces the internet - don't configure a default gateway IP address for your interface which is connected to your private LAN.
If you have tried this and it still does not work, please supply as much IP configuration details as possible.
Cheers, Lofty.
