I was checking out this feature in my bios to enable or disable "Enhance Preformance" of the Lan chip. Basically to my understanding, when enabled, Lan will get first priority of the PCI devices.

Is "LAN" an interchangeable word for internet? I mean will disableing this feature effect online game play on the internet? Cause if any thing I want my sound card and harddrives to recieve high priority, not Lan. I dont think i even have a lan, I dont have any computers hooked up straight to my mine through a cable. As you no doubt have gussed, I'm very confused!

LAN, in this context, is interchangeable for "the port you plug your ethernet cable into". By extension that means any network connection you make - local network, Internet, whatever - will be "enhanced".

I think "enhancement" is a slightly misleading term however. Of all the factors that could possibly affect your network connections, PCI bus latency is pretty low on the list. I doubt there will be any noticeable difference, whichever setting you choose. But it would be interesting to see some benchmarks to verify that. Wanna volunteer? :)

By the way...your "system manufacturer" is probably the first clever submission I've seen for that particular variable.

lol... I'm game!

So what do I do, some downloads, and analyzing of game pings, what about "ping www.xxxxx.com" in the command prompt? Ohh... I know, there this site that measures web speed. If you wanna check it out here is the link.

For the same reason you likely won't experience any noticeable effect from enabling the "enhancement", you also probably won't measure anything useful from any of those tests. You would need to measure performance at the driver level to get any real data.
