Hi all!
I run a small network:
- Several NT4 machines
- 1 Linux box as DHCP-Server
All PCs are connected via a single hub.In addition I have a laptop (running 2K) which used to roam between the network described above and another network quite similar:
- single hub
- all boxes run Windows 98, NT4 or 2K
- 2K box as DHCP-ServerBoth networks use the same IP subnet.
Each network uses only one workgroup for all the PCs on the respective network.Everything worked well so far. I got some browsing errors (network neighbourhood) on the laptop after moving it from one location to the other as the workgroup names were different. This problem usually vanished after adjusting the workgroup name and rebooting.
Problem:
Now the laptop is only used at one of the networks. Ping works, accessing shares works (via entering UNC directly), name resolution works, but:
If I try to browse "Computers Near Me", I get the following error message:
"Unable to access Computers Near Me. INF-WG is not accessible. The list of servers for this workgroup is not currently available."
But INF-WG is the workgroup name of the network the laptop is not connected to anymore (last connected 2 months ago).Anybody knows why 2K always tries to look up the outdated workgroup? How can I prevent 2K from looking it up? Registry?
Any help appreciated!
TIA,
Danny
