I just did a system restore on an HP computer. For some reason I can connect to the router but I cannot ping the router. I used to different types of network cards/USB connecters and they all give the same results. It shows that the PC is connected to the linksys router although it isn't. I know the problem doesn't lie in the router because there are about 5 other PC's that are currently connected.

Ok I tried to set a static IP on the adapter but still no luck. I've never had anything happen like this before.

turn off the windows firewall. put back to dhcp. do you get a valid ip [in the same subnet range as the working others]?

But you failed to answer my question now didn't you? So how do you expect a resolution with no information? We can read your mind via the internet? This stuff isn't magic.
If you really want help than start with what ip address you get when you are connected but not. This will tell us if the connection is actually working. Tell us if this ip and gateway is in the same subnet as the other working pcs.
