I am looking for some guidance in using an NTP server to update the time on my router.
I would like to use a free public NTP server but I have never set anything like this up before.
Any fist steps, do's and don'ts would be appreciated.

Until someone else comes along with the answer to your question/problems, take a look at AboutTime.com . A freeware program for keeping system time in sync with Time Hosts and providing correct time for networks, etc. Can be setup to get correct time on startup and/or run in background to check every xx-minutes and reset as necessary. Also provides Time Server functions. Used to set system clock for time-stamp of SNAP entries from routers. As for setting the time in the router???
