Quick question:
Over a LAN, a Win98 machine with the FAT32 file system should be able to see and use shares a Win 2000 Pro machine that is using the NTFS file system and vise versa, correct?
Is the incompatibility only when the 2 file systems are in the same machine, for instance a dual boot 98 (fat32) and Win 2k ( ntfs)?

Yes the issue is only local and only deals with OS's that can't read certain file system types [like 98 not being able to read ntfs]

Networking masks what the file system type is on the remote computer.
