Hello,
I am using NT 4.0 Domain controllers and NT 4.0 workstations.

I am having the following problem:
When I attempt to logon from a NT workstation I get the following error: "the system cannot log you on to this domain because the systems computer account in its primary domain is missing or the password on that account is incorrect. this happens with any vaild account. But I can login as local admin and even access all the network resources. If I look in the even viewer I see the following events: event ID: 3210 sourse NETLOGON DESC. "failed to authenticates with \\(servername), a windows NT domain controller for the domain (domain name). I also see event ID 3224 Source NETLOGON Desc. " changing machine account password for account (machine name)$ failed with the following error: there are currently no logon servers availible to service the logon request". the catch is I have only seen this problem on 2 workstations in the last 2 days. I have at least 12 other PCs running NT 4.0 and another 100 running W98 with no problems. I have removed these computers from the domain and rejoined them and have even renamed them, no luck. the domain is in sync. any Ideas?

Presuming the event viewer was on the workstation not on the server. The problem is obviously on the workstations somewhere.Whenever you have a problem when
some stations are'nt working and others are then compare the machines what software they have etc what are the differences try narrow down what is different and caused the problem.Have you tried pinging the network and the server.Could be a connection problem
or os problem or network card drivers. Also unload and reload tcp/ip,do registry check.with system mechanic trial version or whatever.
Please let me know how you are coming along collisps@yahoo.com

I get the same error, but it's on all workstations now. There are three servers in our domain - one PDC, one BDC and a stand-alone. IP has been removed from workstations and been re-installed, as have the network cards. We used to have to put the workstations into a workgroup, change their names and rejoin the domain, but that's not working now. We stopped and removed replication between the servers and then re-instated it and that cured it for about two weeks, but now it's back. Our system, along with NT4 workstations and Windows 98, also has Windows 2000 Professional PCs on it and they're logging in OK at the moent. Any further thoughts??

Also I get that same error, but I'm having a w2k domain with nt4 and w2k workstations. w2k workstations work fine, only nt4 ws having this problem.

I am starting to see that at my location as well....It seems as if there is a problem with the PDC and the BDC synchronizing....I noticed in one of my BDC's error log I had a bunch of WINS error messages....I did a manual resync of the BDC to the PDC and the problem seem to be fixed.....You can also check out document Q153719 from Microsoft...
