Hey everyone, I've been having a lot of problems with this xp networking~I've never done it with xp and i'm not liking it.
So heres the deal-i have 2 computers, A and B. both xp. Computer A can see itself and computer B in the workgroup, (filesharing is enabled on both). Computer B cannot see anything anywhere, not even in My Network Places. It sees nothing. I have been told I need to make identical user accounts? Does this mean all I have to do is make 2 user accounts with the same name and password?(same network protocols, connections, etc. apply too im surE) thats it? The funny thing is though, computer A (the working one) has a user named (Joe Smith), but i have never entered a user name in for computer b(the not working one)...
I've tried disabling firewalls-no help.thanks for taking the time to read this

Get to basics; only tcp/ip for protocol
Make a account name on both boxes that is the same and set the password to be the same for both accounts*someone made Joe Smith. There is not auto account create by the OS except administrator and guest.
Make sure the firewalls on both are disabled.
Share something on each box.
If still no go then go down the chain starting with hardware. Can you ping between the stations?
