Not able to connect to LAN

Dell / Inspiron 537s

Specs: Vista 64 bit
My vista box is not connecting to internet. If I do a repair it appears to resolve the problem. However if I then attempt to pull up IE or Mozilla it takes a long time to load and eventually I lose the connection. Resulting in "cannot display webpage". I have scanned for virus and spyware and found very little spyware nothing malicous. Refusing to believe there was no virus I reformatted HD completly still having the same issue. Not sure what else I can do, I have searched for the most recent drivers. When check the status of my connection it shows that I am getting data packets sent and recieved. I cannot connect in safe mode either. I suppose it could be a bad NIC but I would think that if it was bad it wouldnt indicated that im connected and showing active data packets.

Not enough info - define your LAN - is this a hard wired connection or wireless? A household SOHO? If yes, what is your setup, direct to modem, a router, wireless router?

Is this a company LAN? If yes, is the connection live, is the port on the switch that this connection is connected to live? Have you tested the patch cable(s). Are there lights on the NIC or the switch or router ports? Are you getting an IP address? Can you ping your gateway?

Is this a 802.11 WLAN (wireless LAN)?

Is this 3G/4G wireless?

Does a different PC/laptop connect on this connection?

Just another stupid saying...

Advise you to open command prompt and test to issue following command to ping Yahoo and Google server IPs, see whether you get reply from those servers..

You can also open web browser and key in those IPs and see whether the web page will be loaded.

If it works, means there is domain name resolving problem on your computer. Let me know your result.
