Dear sir:
We purchased Symantec Anti Virus Corporate Edition Version 8.0.
I installed the Symantec AntiVirus Server on a Windows 2000 Server ( with Service Pack 3) named NORTON.I also installed the following Administrator Tools:
1) Symantec system Center
2) Live update Administrator.I installed the AntiVirus Client on almost 100 pcs. All Clients in our Organization is Windows 95/98 clients.
We hav other BRANCHES all over the COUNTRY.
I want to install AntiVirus client on pcs on those branches, and connect them to the NORTON Server in the MAIN branch.
I can see the pcs from the "NORTON Server in the MAIN branch", I can also ping them. The clients also can see the SERVER. No problem with that.
The problem is that when I begin to install the AntiVirus client, I choose Managed Option, it then asks me for the Server that have AntiVirus Server Installed (which I named NORTON). I click on browse button, and the NORTON server is there, but when i click to choose it, it waits for a few seconds and tells me that it could not contact server.
Why is that??? And how to solve this Problem???We want to connect the Branch Pcs to the AntiVirus Server in the Main Branch!!!
Again how to do it?????I installed another NIC (Network Card) on the AntiVirus Server. I connected a cable DIRECTLY from this Server to the Branch SWITCH. And it worked, The norton clients is now able to see the Norton Server, and the I can see them in the symantec System Center.
But this is not a Solution. Since this Branch was very close to the Main Branch. what about other Long-Distans Branches. I can't make the same method. Besides how many NICs should I install in the Server (it would be creazy...right).
So Plz help me.!!!!!
Regards,
Abed Amer
