I currently live in a city that has a Christian non-profit organization that has many computers in thier building but they do not have an internet filter.

Their main server runs Windows XP (don't ask me, I know Windows XP really isn't a server) but they need Internet censorship, not only because they are an organization with kids but they are also Christian.

I though of maybe adding an older system to the network with Linux/UNIX and adding Dansguardian but I don't know if they will see as non-profit organization as a business and breaking their license and if this is the best idea since you would have to edit all the PCs to use proxy and some people could easily bypass that.

Also it looks like you have to buy the good blacklists. Is there something that would probably work in this case pretty darn good? Also, if it's paid, the price has to be reasonable, not like $1,000 for each computer.

Live by God, and by God only.

Hi,

Look at Cybersitter.

http://www.cybersitter.com/cybinfo.htm

We've used this for several years very successfully.

They do multiple user licences.

The program has free updatable blacklists, is password protected and can limit hours of use or specific domain names. You can also add sites as trusted zones.

Forget the software solution. Filtering is the LEAST of their issues.

Get a WPA wireless [cheaper] router in place NOW !!!!

You can do content filtering and ip blocking on the router/firewall.

In addition you may want to consider BSD and squid as I have heard good reports on its content filtering/web site blocking at my brothers school district [he's the it guy there and has to keep the students off the bad sites.]
