No wireless networks found range but connects

Specs: Windows XP
I have an IBM thinkpad and am currently connected wirelessly to a network. My problem is that when i open the "view available wireless networks," it tells me that there are no networks found in range. I know that there are because i am currently connected. it has been like this for a while and i dont remember what it was that i did that started this whole thing. Please help me... my operating system is windows xp if that makes a differance

2 suggestions:

- Make sure that Windows XP is updated with latest service pack.

- Enable SSID broadcast on wireless router, as I know sometimes XP will have problem to detect hidden SSID.
