No wireless connection

Specs: Windows XP
I have a desktop that has internet connection. My notebook by Gateway however would not recognize my wireless connection. It was working fine even when I took it out of state. Now that I came home, it would not recognize my wireless connection. But my boyfriend's laptop recognized it & had no problem. I called Gateway, Comcast, Belkin and could get a connection. Each company tells me to call the other. Belkin he had me change some router numbers by using my desktop. Now my boyfriends laptop can't access the internet and I now have 2 computers not working. I am still so frustrated as Gateway tech support is useless. Belkin screwed it all up and Comcast, well its not their problem. Please help if you can. Thx.

Do you have internet access via ethernet (cable into the modem/router) ? If you can get into it do a factory reset on the modem/router and try and reconfigure it again by yourself. Most routers have a wizard that will help you setup your wireless connection. When you make it this time call your wireless connection something different to what it was previously or delete the old wireless connection on your own as well as your boyfriends computers.
Good luck.

You can take a look on this wireless router configuration example, and proceed to check your router configuration to identify any wrong configuration, do correction and test to connect.

Ensure that wireless adapter driver is installed and works well too. If not, you need to reinstall/repair the wireless adapter driver.
