i recently set up my home wireless network. However my laptop doesn't connect to my pc, router/modem. Even though, the network connection of my laptop says" signal: excellent" it also says: "Aquiring network address".I found out that the laptop's ip was is in the range of 192.168.172.16 when it was supposed to be in the range of 168 same as my pc's ip router/modem. I did ipconfig/release and then ipconfig/renew for my laptop and internet was on. Next day, after rebooting my laptop the old ip was there and couldn't connect to the internet. Router and laptop are DCHP enabled
from ipconfig/all this is what i get

Give the wireless NIC a static IP of 192.168.0.99 See what happens. I don't know why you're getting that other IP unless it's picking up a signal from another router in the area. For a small network, you don't need DHCP anyway.

From PC type in 192.168.0.1 and use the built in web page to diag the wireless issue.
From what you posted there is a problem with the wireless. Also use the XP help and support pages to diag it. There is a network diag tool.
