no signal on my laptop

hi all ,
using a belkin wireless router/modem which is connected to my main pc , my brand new laptop will not pick a signal up say from 40ft , ok theres a couple of walls in between , but my sons pc and my daughters laptop both pick the signal up great , is there a way i can improve signal so my advent laptop recieves it.

Move router/antenna, change channels, remove devices that may interfere. Use a sweep tool like backtrack to look for competing signals. Might have to use an antenna such as an external or some other type of amplification.

"Best Practices", Event viewer, host file, perfmon, antivirus, anti-spyware, Live CD's, backups, are in my top 10
