No network on new partition ?

Specs: Vista64
Hi All, I hope someone can help. I created a new partition and installed Vista64 but there is no network/internet connection- "Windows did not detect any networking hardware". On device manager there is a category called 'other devices and this has 4 devices with yellow exclamation marks ('coprocessor','ethernet controller','sm bus controller' and 'unknown device'). There is also no 'Network controller' category so its' not picking-up the gigabyte LAN on the motherboard.
The other partition is fine and the other pc feeding off the router has 2 partitions and also has no problems. Does anyone know why this is happening and how to resolve it?
PS.In case it's important -I originally set-up the partition as logical/Extended but then changed to Primary once I'd installed the OS. Also, this is the same OS and same disc as on partition1 - I didn't register the code - I just wanted to create a second temporary 'trial' partition for Vista.

"coprocessor','ethernet controller','sm bus controller' and 'unknown device')

Ethernet Controller = Network Interface Card

It knows it's there but lacks an appropriate driver to get it working.
Identify your motherboard and visit the maker's website to get applicable chipset and device drivers for Vista64 (If they exist)

That research should have been done before you began the project.
