Specs: Windows XP
My Computer and Modem are not communicating properly.

I restored the factory settings on my laptop (Dell Inspiron 1501) recently. I installed windows and all the drivers and utilities, hjowever for some reason my computer refuses to communicate properly with my modem. I have a communicative driver in place but it seems not to be doing the job. I ran a diagnostic and most of the commands have problems. what can i do

Also the drivers and utilitie related to the modem that came on the back up disk do not seem to be compatible with my system

I would check on Dell's website for updated drivers for the modem. If they have them, download and install them and see if that doesn't fix the issue.

How charged with punishments the scroll,
I am the master of my fate;
I am the captain of my soul.

Didn't Dell provide you with two restore discs - one for the operating system and one for device drivers. You won't be having this issue if you had used the drivers CD.

ya i got them both, did a full install of the windows os and then installed drivers off the other disc, what really makes no sense is that the drivers provided(and recomended on the dell website) come up with a message saying they are incompatible with dell. its got me completely confused
