Hi
I have a query about why no network links would show up on an SMC Switch for 2 servers (netware 3.2 IPX and TCP/IP) but when I connect the servers to a hub they work fine?
At the moment I have the servers connected to the switch via a hub but would prefer to connect them directly to the switch. All items are dual speed 10/100 autosensing.

Using CAT5 Patch cables?
Is the switched managed, if so are the ports set to auto sense?
I would imagine that the auto sensing isn't working correctly on either the nics or the switch. As the hub is dumb, i would think that is the reason why it works going through that.
It might be worth setting the NIC to 100/half duplex or 100/Full duplex (depending on network), and if possible set the switch aswell (if it is managed).
Good Luck

Hi
You might try a crossover cable from your server , some ports on switches have an MDI/MDIX port or switch which allows for switches to be connected. Is it possible that you have connected to one of those ports? That caught me out a while back.
