hello all....

I apologize for the long post, but trying to put as much details as i can:

I have a netgear WGR614V6 router and I'm trying to connect it to my dsl from bellsouth, but so far, i can't surf the web once the router is connected....

I can connect to the internet straight thru the dsl modem, but when I attach the router, I cannot surf the web.

I have done all the resettings----reset modem, reset router, disconnect them from power supply for 30 min or so, reconnect them back, etc, and still no connection.

So this is where I'm at now:
I disconnect the router, and I'm now connected to the internet straight thru the dsl modem.
I do an ipconfig /all and i get the following:

Windows IP Configuration

Host Name . . . . . . . . . . . . : DJXFXHX1
Primary Dns Suffix . . . . . . :
Node Type . . . . . . . . . . . : Hybrid
IP Routing Enabled. . . . . . . : No
WINS Proxy Enabled. . . . . . . : No
DNS Suffix Search List. . . . . : launchmodem.com

Ethernet adapter Local Area Connection:

Connection-specific DNS Suffix . : launchmodem.com
Description . . . . . . . . . . . : Broadcom 440x 10/100 Integrated Controller
Physical Address. . . . . . . : 00-15-C5-A7-3C-D8
Dhcp Enabled. . . . . . . . . : Yes
Autoconfiguration Enabled : Yes
IP Address. . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.1.2
Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway . . . . . . : 192.168.1.254
DHCP Server . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.1.254
DNS Servers . . . . . . . . : 192.168.1.254
192.168.1.254

I then proceed to unhook the dsl modem from the pc by taking out the ethernet cable from modem to pc; I restart the modem; when greenlight on dsl comes on, i turn on netgear router on, and connect ethernet cable from dsl modem into the netgear router. Then I connect ethernet cable from router to pc.

I access the router's basic settings, thru 192.168.1.1, and I have the right username/pw for the dsl account.

Get dynamic ip from isp is checked/on,
Get automatic dns from isp is also checked/on

I do an ipconfig all again and get the following:

Windows IP Configuration

Host Name . . . . . . . . . . . . : DJXFXHX1
Primary Dns Suffix . . . . . . . :
Node Type . . . . . . . . . . . . : Hybrid

WINS Proxy Enabled. . .. . . : No

Ethernet adapter Local Area Connection:

Physical Address. . . . . .. : 00-15-C5-A7-3C-D8

DHCP Server . . . . . . . . : 192.168.1.1
DNS Servers . .. . . . . . . : 192.168.1.1

I also go to the router status and i see the following:

Internet Port:
MAC Address: 00:14:6C:7E:90:C1
IP Address: 0.0.0.0
DHCP: PPPoE
IP Subnet Mask: 0.0.0.0
Domain Name Server: 0.0.0.0

LAN Port
MAC Address 00:14:6C:7E:90:C0
IP Address 192.168.1.1
DHCP ON
IP Subnet Mask 255.255.255.0

I'm not sure what else to do to get this working..any suggestions?
thanks in advance!

That would be the issue. For whatever reason your router isn't picking up IP information from your ISP. I would suggest you contact their support at this point, explain the situation and see if they can't help you. You may be trying to setup the wrong connection type on the router.

I fixed it by making the dsl router an ethernet bridge.
