I'm trying to get internet (non-wireless) on my computer, but it seems like there is no signal coming from the router into my computer.
Here's the setup:
Theres a line going from the modem into a wireless router (D-Link DI-524). My sister uses the wireless signal and there is an ethernet cable going from the router to a desktop. This desktop has no problem getting internet. Now I want to run another ethernet cable from the router to my computer in another room. Since I dont have a cable long enough, I'm trying to go through another router (D-Link DI-604). Now after connecting this second router to my computer, all status lights seem to indicate that everything's working and my computer also says that it's receiving an internet signal, however, when i try to load a browser i can never view the webpage.I tried accessing the second router using a browser window, but i forgot the username and/or password (I'll call verizon if this is absolutely necessary to have, i.e. update the firmware etc...). Is there anything I can do with my computer settings to try and fix my problem other than get a longer cable or a wireless card? Thanks for any help and let me know if you guys need more info.

The problem is on another router (D-Link DI-604), you only need to configure this router as a network switch only, means don't configure anything that related to WAN, Internet and DHCP configuration. Don't use it's WAN port as well, use crossover cable to connect both router's LAN port. I tried before, it should work.
Check the router manual or vendor on how to reset the router setting to factory default.
Hope helps..

you need to go into the dlink and turn off dhcp. or you will have ip addressing problems between the two routers
Are you ready for where Microsoft wants you to go today?

Not sure with over the counter routers like Dlink, and Linksys, but errors like described could be caused by the routers not forwarding packets out the interfaces do to no routing protocols.
Also, if the router is handing out DHCP with is not a big deal, as long as the routers support RIP v2, and they are able to connect/router packets to the other router.
Something i do not know if these feature are avalible on over the counter equipment.
