Comment:

Other computers are connecting to the net and my gateway shows that it is connected to the wireless - with excellent strength. However, I can't access the internet. My IP configuration is different from the other computers. Under "wireles network connection status" it says "address type: manually configured." I have tried repairing connection, restarting, and have had two techies take a look with no results. My trend micro internet security pops up a message that says suspicious activity is blocked - some library trying to access my computer. I have no idea if this has anything to do with the problem. I have tried disabling the firewall - no difference. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Gateway support charges $60/30 min. Any advice for a more affordable alternative in the Bay Area?

click start/programs/accessories/command prompt and type in IPCONFIG /ALL. Let me know what you get back. Do you know if your internet router is setup to distribute ip addresses via dhcp?
