I have had a problem accessing the internet. Its started with my modem. It would connect, but no information would get through and I couldnt get on the internet. I figured that it was just a fried modem or something, and that if I used a network it would be fine. But the same problem happens now that it is connected via Cable Modem. It shows it connected to the network, but nothing is able to connect. Any ideas? Troubleshooters? Programs to fix this? Any help would be much appreciated.

How about calling your ISP. broken cable, bad modem....
Golly gee wilerkers everyone. Learn to Internet Search

But it isnt a bad connection on the ISPs part, its my computer. I have 2 other computers who are connected fine. Any input as to the deeper problem with the PC?

How are the computers connected? it sounds like you have a
bad cable and/or NIC.Kerry

Trust me, its not a bad cable because both the dialup and lan cards connect, the computer just isn't doing anything positive with the information. The computer is connected to a router that is connected to Comcast cable. The cables are fine, I have checked and rechecked. Its the computer, does anyone know what it could be?

have you tried conecting to your router? if thats ok try to connect to the isp just to isolate the problem you can use "ping cmmand" ping the router IP add and the ISP IP add... if all is ok there is good reply try browsing but instead of using names you can try using IP add also... you can also check the status of your connection the sent and receives packets if your idle on the network they should be almost balance if not i sugest do a virus scan or all of the safe and prtect stuffs if you still have the same result check fr any windows error... just a sugestion it wont take you that long to perform

And remember, you can get a link light with only the receives connected -- the sends can still be mis-wired.
Also, accidentally plugging a telephone cord into a LAN jack can blow up the tranceiver. Ethernet is only geared for 5 to 10 volts...
