Hello.

I'm having the work time trying to setup a home network to see all the computers. I have three computers and at one point in my life, these three computers did recognize each other and communicated. With some applications downloading and installation and years of abuse I can't get some of the computers to communicate with each other. I have the same network workgroup name and each computer has its own name. This always worked for me before, but not it's caput... Only one computer can access folders in other computers and not vice versa. I want to network a printer off of a desktop and now that seems to be shot. What is going on with Windows XP/Home/Professional. It all sucks to high heavens.....Someone pls help!!

Firewalls turned off? Clear of spyware/malware? All pcs in the same subnet? Can you ping between them?

Are you ready for where Microsoft wants you to go today?

make sure you have file and print sharing enabled on all systems, you can also check under the firewall exception settings and make sure there is a check in File and print sharing checkbox.

Are you using a router? Please describe your connection in detail (router, CAT 5 or wireless, etc...
Can you access the internet on the other systems?

You can also try to rerun the networking wizard.

You need to have the proper account(s) set up on each computer. Especially if you are using NTFS formatted drives or have turned off Simple File Sharing.

Use antivirus and malware removal to check all computers. Here are free software in case you need:

AVG Antivirus: http://free.grisoft.com/doc/1
Adaware: shttp://www.download.com/3000-2144-10045910.html

Then make sure the computers can ping each other without firewall blocking.

As for file/printer sharing, there are 2 types of sharing. Check out which one you used..

Simple file sharing(without password)

Share file with user/group permissions

Don't forget to enable file/printer sharing on network card's TCP/IP setting also...

Hope helps..
