Using Verizon ISP, a few times a day, my NIC stops receiving packets. Its a Linksys Wireless Adapter, and MR314 Netgear router. I tried using a cat5 with my onboard NIC, but the same thing occurs.

All Browsing and mail applications stop working, but pinging an outside IP address is successful, and IM/Chat applications still communicate. The only fix that I've come across is a power cycle of the router.

One thing to note, is that a Westell modem supplied by Verizon is bridged and the Netgear handles NAT/DHCP/ETC. I haven't yet tried to eliminate the Netgear from the equation, but plan to try that later on. It basically just started occurring.

Thanks in advance for the help.

Force your NIC's to full/100 in the device manager. Defaul is auto-detect.

I looked at the router config, and noticed that there was a DMZ IP address assigned. I removed that, and the connection has held pretty steady, so I think I might be all set. I'll take a look at forcing full/100 as well.

thanks!
