Howdy!
I am having a problem with my Toshiba Satellite. The computer has 3 network cards installed on it. The wireless I use at school, I don't use the 1394 slot, and the CAT 5 slot I use at the office. The other evening I came back to the office and couldn't log onto the network. I have reinstalled the driver now numerous times, reset TCP/IP, downloaded the latest card drivers from Toshiba, and installed latest flash BIOS just in case. Tried a different cable and plugged into another switch. Nothing seems to work.
When configuring under DHCP, the router recognizes and assigns an IP to the laptop.Status check (Windows XP) shows no received. Repair fails to renew IP and flush ARP.
Can anyone help?
I should mention that everything was working fine until two nights ago. Problem free for the last 4 months. I shut the computer off at work one night, tried to hook up the next night and nada. As far as I know, the computer was just sitting on the desk all night...
BTW, things are still working fine via wireless.
Is the card fried? Do we need more specs?
Thanks!

Not that it's a solution to your problem, but I seem to have the same problems. Though my situation is a bit less complex: I have a Satellite 1400-103 running XP home with a built-in network card (intel pro/100 M) 100 Mbit.
At about half a year ago -after a windows update- it suddenly didn't work anymore. XP keeps telling me that one of the network cables is not connected.
Removed the network numerous times in the device manager. After recognising new hardware and installation, the problems persists. I also updated the network driver from Toshiba. Nothing seems to help.Did you try to boot the laptop with a simple boot floppy with a packet driver for your network card? I'm going to try that myself soon.
Good luck.
