NIC and Road Runner cable modem

I have a Time Warner cable modem connected directly to NIC. No router. I connect to the internet fine, but had a problem before. Periodically I run IPCONFIG to check my IP address. The IP address is always the same, but it always shows lease obtained in AM of day I check, expiring the next morning. My understanding is that cable uses a dynamic address, so is my repetitive IP some generic address due to a problem? Thanks for any info.

Found my answer. Cable modem does use a dynamic IP address, but will keep the same IP address unless the modem is unplugged for some extended period of time (could be overnight or up to a week). IPCONFIG /RELEASE will release the IP address, but immediately draws the same one back from the "stack".
