I used to use the USB for the modem but now i use the network port routed through the D-Link router It conly cuts out breifly but sometimes a few times within a few minutes of each other thanks

What exactly do you mean by internet cutting out? Could it just be that others are now using your connection causing delays?

It could be a fault within the new router, but it could also be a problem with your service provider.
Try going back to your old setup and see if these problems continue. If they do, call your ISP. If they don't resetup the network and see if they suddenly recur. This will prove where the fault lies and if appropriate call the manufacturer's support.
