Subject: new hard disk and slow internet OS: MECPU/Ram: Dell Dimension 8100 |
Comment: One year ago I purchased the Netgear MA401 wireless card and the MA301 adapter to connect my desktop to internet. Recently my computer did not work anymore and I had to replace the hard disk. The new one was particioned as following: a 2 GB C drive where I have ME OS and drives, and a 38 GB D drive for downloaded programs and private stuff. Since I have the new hard disk my wireless internet connection is very slow and does not work all the times. It seems to be a problem of my wireless card MA401. The PCI 301 adapter works fine (I checked in the device manager) and the connection to internet is ok, as we have a second computer at home using a wireless connection. The icon in the sys tray is green, and does not display any problem. Where is then the problem? Thank you very much for your help. -Sally

Reply: (edit)Try Reinstalling the driver for the wireless card other then that .hmm make sure your computer is cleaned up(ie no junk files. defraged. no viruses)
did you move your computer far away from the connection? think its too far? or some large object like a plate of metal blocking the signal?
