I have two computers one xp one 98. I first installed win xp and on new system and have a linksys router sharing dsl connection on both computers. The dsl works on both systems but neither computer can see each other in network. When I first install xp on new system I ran connection wizard and then ran it on the 98 machine and xp was able to see 98 fine. But I rebooted systems a couple times and all of a sudden neither was able to see each other. Oh and 98 was never able to see xp. I read somewhere that xp needs to have netbeui on xp machine so I intalled that but still does not work. Again both are connected to internet fine. The group name is the same on both and computer names are different. both hard drives are different names even. Don't know what else to do. Can someone anyone help and leave messages. Thankyou.

Hey Chris I have the same type of network set up. Although i have problems keeping my settings after a re-boot i have been able to make both pc's communicate with each other and share files both ways. One thing i can suggest is to make sure your file system on the XP machine is set to FAT 32. Remember that win98 cannot recognize ntfs file systems. Hope this makes a difference.
