Specs: Windows vista Home Premium (service pack 1), 3.00g 32 bit
I have, what I think is a major problem. I have 2 computers. My server is an HP pavilion f1703 desktop, and my client is is a vista dv6810 notebook. I had them both connected to the internet via a D LInk router, and also connected to 812c HP printer, I had several issues with the desktop and eventually had to take it back to factory setting. NOW, when I try the NETWORK WIZARD on the server (Desktop) I get a message that says, " An error occured during configuration of the network on THIS computer." can anyone help me PLEASE. thank you

Let's get our terminology straight first. If your desktop isn't running server software with active directory & a local domain, then it's not really a server. It's a desktop that you are using as a file server which is fine but we have to be clear.

If you want to share files & a printer, you don't need the network wizard. You can create a workgroup, enable file sharing & list some shares.
