Hi,
I would like to networking between two computers, windows 2000 and windows XP. I've a Switch(hub) already. So all i do is just plug the network cable into a switch OR do i need to setup anything?
I can networking WinXP to WinXP, but i am not sure about win2000-winXP.

Well for the physical setup you just need to plug in the cable ( ensure cable is straight type ) For two PC to communicate you will need to assign them IP addresses and net masks such that both of them are on same network. for example you can use 192.168.2.1 as IP for one of you PCs and netmask as 255.255.255.0 the other PC can have IP like 192.168.2.x where x is anything from 2 to 254.
Now check for connectivity using ping command on both PCs.
If everything is OK you can make the PCs join a common workgroup to share you files and if you are having server version of OS you can even setup a domain.
