Hello,
I just wanted to ask. Can I network my Windows XP Professional P4 2.6 GHZ 256 MB RAM with my Celeron 330 MHZ 32 MB RAM with Windows 98 Second Edition installed? I already have a crossover cable installed and connection is working. But how can I share files and play network games on the 2 PC's? I have tried giving them ip's like: For XP PC: 192.168.10.1 and 98 PC: 192.168.10.2 , but it is not woking...Any ideas. None of the PC's is connected to the internet. Can anyone please give me a step by step guide of how to do the software?

hi,
yes you can do what you want to do.
Are your Workgroup names the same? Windows don't like PCs which have not the same Workgroup.
try the console and the ping command to see if your connection is working.

You run the Networking Wizard on the XP PC, thats what it is there for, and at the end of the Wizard you make a settings disk which will install the correct settings on the W98 PC

Make sure you have File and Print Sharing enabled and that you have designated Files/Folders to be shared.
From Network Neighbourhood type \\Computername in the address bar. If there is a connection Windows will find the computer, regardless of Workgroup name which is not that important.
