I need to connect my OmniBook 800ct (Win95) to my desktop (Windows2000). My external floppy drive is broken and I want to figure out how to move files to and from my desktop. I have a 3com Etherlink III LAN+Modem card (3C562), a cable that can connect to the card and to the ethernet card(SMC EZ card 10/100) in my desktop, I can't seem to figure things out on my own...:^(... If anyone can help that would be incredible! Thanks.

seriously though, shouldnt you think about migrating your files to a newer system? That HP hardware cannot have long left to live now...

nosey aren't ya, readin me sig?

To connect your PC directly to your laptop will require a crossover cable, not a regular "straight through" network cable.
Once you have them connected, you'll have to give both IP's within the same subnet.
Example:
Laptop:
IP: 192.168.0.2
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0PC:
IP: 192.168.0.1
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0Then, you will need to share a folder on one or the other unit. If you create a share on the laptop (recommended) and allow "Everyone" access, you would then simply map a network drive from the PC to that folder.
Say you created a folder on the laptop called "shared" (C:\Shared). To map, open Windows Explorer, click on Tools >> Map Network Drive.
In the window that opens, type the following in the "Folder" entry field:
\\192.168.0.2\Shared
and click "Finish". Your drive should map and then be accessible.
