Hello,
I had successfully setup a LAN with one PC acting as a gateway PC sharing the DSL internet for 30+ PCs. During the weekends there was power cut and the windows on that PC was corrupted. After recovery, when I leave Winroute on, the LAN is unaccesible. So i brought in my Linksys WRT54GS gateway and now I can disconnect up to 4 PCs from our LAN and connect them to the back of the Linksys to access the internet. I tried connecting a line from the device to one of out Switches/Hubs (D-Link) and it caused a broadcast storm and not only could none of the PCs on the switch/hub get online, but also they couldn't see each other anymore. Since the Linksys gateway has 4 LAN ports + 1 for DSL, how can I share the internet with more than 4 PCs ?

Generally, all PCs including any servers would be connected to the switch and the uplink port on the switch gets connected to the router. The uplink port on the router goes to the modem. Some switches don't have a port marked uplink or WAN. They can read any port by where the cable is connected.
If you had DHCP running through your 'gateway PC' and then you added a router also running DHCP, that would cause some problems. That's the first thing I would check, along with all the TCP/IP settings on all PCs.

Hi, thank you for your reply. I have D-Link switches with no uplink ports. All PCs have static IPs, there was a DHCP setup on the wifi gateway device. Any ideas ?
