I have a networking project for my LAN Concepts class. It is a group project and is no due for about two months, but I'd like to get started now. It is our group's project to design a network for a company that will be in two buildings, also needs remote access, with roughly 135 workstations. We have to design the layout and *everything* we will use. I've no idea where to start. If anyone has advice on what to do first or good sources of information, please let me know or if you need more information on the project. I do NOT want someone to do it for me, not looking for a handout. Need help to be put in the right direction. Thanks so much!

Normally when being assigned a class project, students have already learned the basics and know where to start with the System Design.

Get yourself to Borders (or equivalent large book store) when it opens and spend a day reading books on networking. I found the books by Sybex in particular invaluable. They give you STRATEGY & DESIGN, not just "nuts and bolts."
