I am having some problems with networking on an Industrial PC running XP Embedded. There is basically just 2 PCs networked on a local network. One of these PCs needs to get to the the internet so it is also on an office network. There is 2 separate NIC on the PC. So one is connected to the Local PC and the other is for the Internet / Office network. The Local PC is logged in to the default Username and password. The other PC needs to be logged in as the network username and password. Heres the problem, when the Office Network PC is logged in as Network Login there is some comms issues. The Local PC sends files to a shared folder and this works fine. I can ping from either PC to the other no problem. I can remote desktop from both PCs to each other, but on the networked PC the colours of the screen are screwed up !! When I try to use 'My Computer' to talk to local PC from network PC by typing in the IP address (192.168.57.54) it wont connect ? Also my application running on the network PC cant send a file to the local PC. Here's the thing. The same errors persist when I disconnect the network cable. Also when I log in as the default username and password on the Networked PC, these problems dissappear. Anyone know what to look for here ? It seems the network login does something to the comms somehow ?

Reply:

1. Ensure that you have ICS service running

2. Ensure both PC's are on the same IP / subnet scheme. 192.168.57.x 255.255.255.0

3. Get both PC's on the same workgroup

4. Enable File and printer sharing

5. Set sharing on your applications and data

6. Keep common username / passwords on both PC's

7. Ensure Firewall is configured or turned off

Thanks for any input.
