networking problem with Linksys E3000

February 2, 2011 at 18:55:35
Specs: Windows XP
I am using a laptop with a usb wifi adapter to borrow internet from my neighbor.
I have a LinkSys E3000 and hooked it up the the laptop. the laptop is plugged in to the internet port of the router, so i am kinda using the laptop as a modem, i guess.
the problem is, that when i try to connect to the router from another computer, wired or wireless, it will not connect to the internet.
Before this router i had a Linksys BEFW11S4, and was able to connect to the internet through that router just fine. And the Laptop that is acting as a modem is running XP

any help would be appreciated thx

Does your neighbor know?

If your neighbor knows and you have a deal going with him to do this, try connecting your router to his. You'll have to bridge the connection from your router to his. Once you've done so, then the router can act like a router and you won't have to rely on a laptop to be your "modem".

How charged with punishments the scroll,
I am the master of my fate;
I am the captain of my soul.
