Networking Problem plz HELP

July 4, 2009 at 13:31:14
Specs: Windows XP
Help pleaseeeee!!!!

I've two pc. PC(A) & PC(B)

PC(A) is connected to a dial-up internet connection by a internal modem.
But PC(B) is not connected.

I connect both the pc by a HUB with RJ45 cable and configure both the pc.

In "My network place/Microsoft windows Network/Mshome" of PC(A) I can see both the PC but when I try to open the PC(B) it shows the following message:

Also When I click on PC(B) Properties, I get the message: THE SERVER COULD NOT BE FOUND ON THE NETWORK.

And in "My network place/Microsoft windows Network/Mshome" of the PC(B) I can see only PC(B).

I'm pretty much at a loss as to what to do next.

Please help me.

In XP Help & Support in your Start menu you will find a networking walkthrough. You may find that it is simply a matter of having to turn off your firewalls in order to get through.
Check the network card properties in each machine to ensure they are both in the same workgroup and have different IP addresses but in the same range, eg set one to with subnet then set the other to with the same subnet.
