HELP....

My hubby and I are moving into a 5th wheel travel trailer and there is no room for my pc....However there is room for my printer and tower…..So I was wanting to know how I could wirelessly network my laptop and tower together so that I can access everything through my laptop

My tower is HP / Compaq, XP, 1.10 GHz and 512 MB RAM
I have my CD / DVD burner combo and my CD Rom along with my printer in my tower.

My Laptop is HP / Compaq, ME, Intel / Celeron Processor and 60 MB RAM
I have my CD Rom and Floppy drive in my laptop.

I would love to be able to access all through my laptop

But I do not know where to start….I know little more about computers than how to turn them on and log on to the internet.

Thank you for any help you can give.

Patti

If the computers are networked then Remote Access Software like VNC would allow you to control the tower from the laptop without the tower needing a monitor.

Patti, I'm confused. You say that the trailer has no room for your pc (the laptop), but it has enough room for the tower (the desktop)? Did you mean it the other way around--Did you mean the trailer is not big enough for your desktop computer but is big enough for your laptop computer?
I'm going to assume thats what you meant.
I'm also going to assume that the question you really want to ask is as follows:

I'm going to be living in a travel trailer and want to access my home desktop computer through my laptop computer that I'm going to be taking with me.

And now to answer the question I think you are trying to ask...
If this is the case there are many options, sure VNC is one of them, but if you are using windows XP you can also use its remote desktop connection. You will need a static IP no matter what you choose. I'd recommend using www.no-ip.com to accomplish this. Then whenever you are on the road and have access to the internet you will be able to remote desktop into your computer.

Let us know if this wasn't the answer to the question you were trying to ask...

If you have internet connection to your computers then you can use some remote access solution like RemotePC to control your tower through your laptop. It also allows you to transfer files and access its resources.

Probably the best thing to do is to get a new laptop with DVD burner and an external USB hard drive for additional storage, if needed. Along with the printer it would be all the computing equipment you need to bring along while saving you considerable space.
