Comment: I have a server that must be put on a 192.168.*.* virtual network. This server must have communication with another machine that has the following IP information: IP: 10.144.196.226 Subnet Mask: 255.255.254.0 Gateway: 10.144.196.1 This is a very large network for a site that I am at for work. The server must be on this virtual network per corporate policies. The site no longer has an IT person, and I know very little about networking. I'm lost and am desperate for help. Please help me!

Reply: (edit)First of all, your cheap capitalist boss should hire someone to do the IT job or pay you extra to do it. Besides that, did the server have that communication before or is it a new project? You didn't mention what router or what OSes are involved http://www.cisco.com/univercd/cc/td/doc/product/software/ios113ed/113ed_cr/switch_c/xcvlan.htm That site might answer your questions.
