Hello.

got an issue with a network that I am doing some work on. I installed a network in a fire house a couple of years ago. they have since upgraded to computers there and I went in to get them set up for users and the Network.. The 2 new computers are both dells. One a viston200 and the other is an inspiron 9200. the issues are these:

1 I ran the network wizard on the computers and all went well. file and printer sharing are on. when you pull up my network places to see the work computers, the dells both say I dont' have access to the network. I am able to ping the other pc on the network, and can get on the net and access the Linksys router on the net but can't see the other computers at all. any thoughts?

2. The inspiron 9200 mentioned above has a NIC issue. you can turn the pc on and it will run for a while on the net then you are off line. Pulling up the device manager you see the nework adapters but the nic has a warning saying it'snot working. or it is gone altogether and only the 1394 adapter is listed. if you uninstall and reinstall the nic it comes up but only for a short time. any ides on this?

Thanks

Arin

I have never run a wizard. I prefer the actual setting by hand. Look at the sharing settings and permissions and firewalls.

See event viewer to start. Consider a test to prove some supposition. If you think it is the OS then use knoppix maybe to see if works. If you feel the card is the issue use a usb to ethernet. You would have to start and half split somehow.

I read it wrong and answer it wrong too. So get off my case you low-branching widely cultivated annual herb Arachis hypogaea of the legume family with showy yellow flowers.
