Well I have two computers and am hosting my own website on one of the comps. The easiest way I've found is to get a router and set the ppoe connection for the modem as being on another computer (namely the router) and still allow NAT this allows either computer to automatically connect to the internet ... with the automatically detect network settings ,,for LAN connection setup and I personally have my two comps set-up with static IP addresses and disabled DHCP server settings in the router.... A 4 port router is fairly inexpensive 50 bucks or so ....
Hope that answers your ?
Good luck !!!

MSI 845e mb 768 mb am and a p4 2.4n running xp ,win 2000 advanced server and win 98 SE alot to learn and I know so little !!!!
