i have a broadband connection with two ip addresses. I have three computers running winxp. I have a networking hub and a networking router. I have my modem connected to the uplink port of my hub and a computer also to the hub. My router is also connected to the hub just as if it was another computer. This takes away both ip addresses. So now i have my other two computers linked to my router.
I want to have a complete lan with all three computers using file and printer sharing. I also host multiplayer games so just having my router linked to all three computers is not an option right now. If I could use my hub for all three computers using just two ip addresses. How can this be done? Internet connection sharing is an option but seems to fail when configuring.

You could use your router for all three computers. I currently have a broadband connection with only one (internet) IP. The modem is plugged into the uplink of my router. The router picks up the IP from my ISP (12.254.xx.x). the router is also set to DHCP so it assigns an IP to all 6 of my other computers (192.168.xx.x). All computers are able to share files and printers. Gaming is no problem, and all computers can be on the internet at one time using the 12.254.xx.x IP address.

but if u were playing online (eg on warcraft - battle.net) only the person sharing out the connection is able to create games?? We have the same setup as above ... we are fine playing games thru external server but only the internet sharing pc is able to host/create games which outside players are able to see/join .. I think thats what he means??
sorry my network savvy'ness is very lacking.(0)
