Cable and DSL are not available in my area, but I can connect through my cellular providers 3G network. I have a PIC to PCMCIA adapter installed in my desktop, and the connection works great. My question is whether or not I can hook up a wireless network to work with my PS3 using a simple wireless router. If possible I would like to use my PC's ethernet port to send the data to the "input" port on a wireless router. Is this something that is possible? I am aware of things like the Junxion box and other routers that have slots for the PCMCIA modem, but was wondering if there was a way to avoid spending any more money.

Theoretically ICS (Internet connection sharing) could run on your PC and talk through the router to the PS3 which talks to the router wirelessly. So yes it is possible. How the router gets the WAN IP isn't so clear. I think ICS will provide an IP to the WAN port of the router. I don't know what the router must do to recognize it though. If the router provides DHCP then it will assign an IP to the PS3.

You should try analogx's proxy application or another type of ICS proxy software. Many are free. What happens is that your pc connects to the internet and then the other devices "passthrough" the pc via hub or other nic using software.
I read it wrong and answer it wrong too. So get off my case you goober.
