Does Vista show the Laptop in its logical map of the network? If not, it should.

Did you 'create a new conection' in Windows XPs network connections folder?

Ya there is a map of the network on vista. It looks like:

Laptop-----Home------Internet

And there is a network connection on XP for the laptop under the LAN section of network connections. And its status is "connected"

Hi cooperguy,Since all you need is to share files,i would suggest that you use the IP address to access the data. You can access it in the form:\\192.168.1.2\c$ from the run command on the start menu and use the username and password for the account with permission on that computer.I hope this helps.Pls tell us if you resolve the problem so that others can also learn from it.
Regards,
Ep.

Im just after trying that and it says "windows cannot access 192.168.1.2\c$". I clicked diagnose and it says "Network diagnostics pinged the remote host but did not receive a response" It says to reset the network adaptor. I tried that but it didnt help. Its really starting to annoy me now. Any more ideas I could try?
