Hello. I eventually will be setting up a rather complex network, but first am starting small. I'm having issues trying to 'ping' from one computer to another on a 2 node network. Both computers are running Windows NT and are connected via a D-Link Switch (each has 1 NIC as well). Right now, computer 1 is using static IP 192.168.1.17 with subnet 255.255.255.240 and computer 2 is using static IP 192.168.1.23 with subnet 255.255.255.240 (TCP/IP is the protocol). I've tried setting one with a default gateway, but no luck there either. All I get is "Requested timed out" X 4 when I ping. When I ping the loopback address (or a computer's own IP), it works fine, so TCP/IP should be setup correctly, but when trying to ping each other, I get nothing. I really would appreciate any help you could give me. Thanks for your time and help.
