HI,

Hope you can help me out. I have wlan setup using a linksys w-router + AP. The cable modem is plugged into therouter and the router is connected to COMP1 (win2k pro). I have disabled DHCP

ipconfig /all for comp1
Windows 2000 IP Configuration -comp1

Host Name : administrator1
Primary DNS Suffix: Node
Type : Broadcast
IP Routing Enabled. . . . . . . . : No
WINS Proxy Enabled. . . . . . . . : No
Ethernet adapter LAN1:
Connection-specific DNS Suffix . :
Description . . . . . . . . . . . : Realtek RTL8139(A)-based PCI Fast Ethernet Adapter
Physical Address: 00-0B-2B-0D-E5-CD
DHCP Enabled: No
IP Address: 192.168.1.100
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway: 192.168.1.1
DNS Servers . . . . . . . . . . . : 202.56.xxx.1
202.56.xxx.2
192.168.1.1

Comp2 - Windows 2000 pro - connected via linksys USB network adaptor. DHCP disabled.

Host Name : ccdc
Primary DNS Suffix:Node
Type : Broadcast
IP Routing Enabled: No
WINS Proxy Enabled: No

Ethernet adapter Local Area Connection:
Connection-specific DNS Suffix . :
Description . . . . . . . . . . . : Linksys Wireless-B USB Network Adapter v2.8
Physical Address: 00-0C-41-57-36-34
DHCP Enabled: No
IP Address: 192.168.1.123
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway: 192.168.1.1
DNS Servers . . . . . . . . . . . : 202.56.xxx.1
202.56.xxx.2
192.168.1.1

The problem:

Comp1 can see comp2 on same workgroup but cannot access shared resources on comp2 (Message:\\Ccdc is not accessible..Network path not found).

Comp2 cannot even see comp1 does not even show up in netowrk neighbourhood.

Both however can access the net.

I need to be able to access files and printers. I have all my users on each of the computers listed with administrative powers.

Any solution/setting...will be great help...

I have installed the softwares quite a few times.

Thanks
Apoorva

P.S I have also read quite a few articles but have not yet found on peer to peer networking through a router for 2 machines having win2k pro

1. try to ping the router from the two machines
can the router see the the two machines
2 can the two machines ping each other form their IP address
can you go to strat run and type in \\computer name or \\ipaddress from the other pc and see if this allows you into the other pc?

You might need to set up username/passwords on both computers... if they are both connected to the router and able to get on the net through it, your connection should be there.

Make sure you have a shared folder on each computer, and set up a user account for each and follow Nial's recommendation to try pinging everything.
