A hub is cheaper than a switch.
The simplest and most cost effective way to network two PC's and share one printer is to purchase two NIC's (network interface cards) and a CAT 5 crossover cable. Install the two NIC's and configure the TCP/IP settings and connect them with the crossover cable. Run the Add Printer wizard on the PC that doesn't have the printer physically attached to it (after installing it on the other PC) and add a network printer and have your driver disk handy.

Incorrect, the cheapest way to network 2 printers is to hook one to one machine via the regular LPT1 connection, then set it as a network printer. From the other machine, add a new printer via the network. Make sure both machines have file and printer sharing installed.
