hey i am trying to network 2 computers up and i need some help. i tried this once but i failed, this is what i did...

i conected both pcs together using a 15M ethernet wire, one end plugged into an onboard net card in my new pc and the other plugged into the netcard in my old pc.

i also have a USB wire going from my old pc to my WEBSTAR modem

i heard all i had to do now is go to control panel and follow the network wizard instruction but it didnt work

i dont particularly want to buy a router because i will be using the new one for gaming and i heard routers block out gaming or something

any help ?

Try using a proxy programe like PPPshare or AnalogX both are free. Do a search in Goggle to find website to download. They giveeasy instructions on how to set up both computers to work together. Ricky

I agree with A1, you need a crossover cable...or you can make it yourself. Or, just use a cheap linksys 5 port switch. These are super cheap now, and will connect up your pc's, as well as your internet, giving all pc access to the net.
